The Club at Starr Pass
by Dave Sansom Photography
The Club at Starr Pass, nestled in the Sonoran Desert foothills west of Tucson, offers a dramatic 27-hole golf experience designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay. The three nines—Rattler, Coyote, and Roadrunner—wind through rugged desert canyons and arroyos, framed by towering saguaros and sweeping mountain vistas. First opened in 1986, Starr Pass quickly earned acclaim as host of the PGA Tour’s Tucson Open. Palmer and Seay’s design emphasizes risk-reward play, with bold elevation changes, natural washes, and strategic bunkering that test precision while rewarding creativity. Combining championship pedigree with striking desert scenery, Starr Pass is one of Arizona’s most memorable golf destinations.
