Question - Where are you based?
I'm based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, but I'm glad to travel wherever I'm needed.
Question - How far do you travel for a photo shoot?
I’ve traveled across the U.S. and internationally — including Hong Kong, Beijing, Wuhan (Yes, THAT Wuhan), Iceland, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. I’m open to traveling just about anywhere. The only caveat: for flights longer than 16 hours, I require business class. My days of sitting upright for 24 hours are behind me!
Question - What do you photograph as part of a golf course project?
My specialty is golf course photography, so I focus on shooting your golf course as golf is played, on the ground (or on a ladder), at its best.
YOUR CLUB IS MORE THAN A GOLF COURSE, THOUGH, SO I PHOTOGRAPH MORE THAN JUST YOUR GOLF COURSE.
1. Clubhouse interiors and exteriors
2. Additional facilities like pools, tennis courts, and dining areas
3. Wildlife
4. Aerial stills (drone photography)
5. Non-golf scenics
Question - Do you use a drone?
Yes! I currently fly a DJI Mavic 4 Pro. It’s compact, reliable, and equipped with an impressive Leica camera — a big step up from the drones many golf course photographers use today.
Question - Do you shoot video?
At this time, I’m focused solely on aerial still photography. I believe in offering only the highest quality work, and until my video editing skills meet that standard, I won’t be offering video services. I hope to have good news on this front later this year.
Question - When are you available?
I shoot year-round, subject to availability. If you have specific dates in mind, booking early is your best bet. However, while I’m not often free at the last minute, I’m happy to fit in a new project if I have an opening. CLICK HERE to fill out a Photo Shoot Enquiry form and I'll be in touch right away.
Question - How far in advance should I book a photo shoot?
If you have specific dates in mind — for example, a course opening or renovation completion — the sooner you book, the better. For seasonal shoots like fall foliage, timing can be unpredictable, so I offer flexible scheduling: we can book in advance and adjust dates as the Fall color peaks. That said, if I’m available and your club needs me next week — I’m more than happy to schedule an immediate photo shoot.
Question - What is a typical golf club photo shoot like? What’s your schedule, and what will our club need to provide while you’re here?
Every golf club is unique, but my photo shoots usually follow a natural rhythm built around capturing the best light. I typically spend one to four days on site, depending on the size of the project. Early mornings (pre-dawn leading into sunrise and early morning shadows) and late afternoons are especially important for showcasing the course in its most dramatic and flattering light. Midday hours are often reserved for photographing architectural interiors and lifestyle imagery.
What I need from your club
• Golf Cart, Ladder, Course Map – To work efficiently and effectively.
• Points of Contact – I like to keep all the team at your club in the loop on my schedule and activities. I send two pre-photo shoot emails to your club's contacts prior to the shoot and I'll be in daily contact with some of them when I'm on site for the project. So... I'll need email addresses for your General Manager, Director of Golf or Head Pro, Marketing/Membership Director and Superintendent. I'll also need cell #s for my primary contacts on site , who will usually be your Superintendent and the person in charge of your outside staff (to help arrange a cart and ladder for each session}.
• Prepared Spaces – If we’re photographing interiors, dining areas, or amenities, it’s best if these areas are neat, staged, and ready to be presented at their best
My goal is to capture the best images possible, while ensuring the process is smooth and my presence unobtrusive. Your staff has important work to do and your members don't need their activities disrupted. I'm a guest and I will behave as such.
Question - How long will it take to get my images?
As a rule of thumb, editing takes me about twice as long as the on-site shoot. For example, if I spend 4 days shooting a 60-image package, I’ll need around 8 or 9 days to edit your final images. Once the editing is complete, I'll post your images online for review and selection.
NOTE: On-site photography always takes priority over editing, so during my busy seasons in Spring and Fall, there may be a slight delay in completing your images. I will keep you posted thru the process.
Question - What will I receive when the project is finished?
Once you’ve made your selections from the gallery of finished images I post for review, you’ll receive two complete sets of your chosen images, both in the sRGB color space, which is the industry standard for images on the internet and also the color space most photo printers prefer.
Full Resolution Digital Images – Ideal for any print application.
Web Ready Digital Images – Optimized for your website, email, and online use.
Question - How many images will I get?
I always deliver more than promised. In fact, I fully edit 50% more photographs than your package calls for:
20-image package → You get 30 edited images to choose from, focused on, but not restricted to, your selection of 6 holes.
30-image package → You get 45 edited images to choose from, focused on, but not restricted to, your selection of 10 holes.
60-image package → You get 90 edited images to choose from, with multiple shots of every hole.
For custom packages, you’ll still receive 50% more than the agreed amount.
Question - What if, when I see your images, I want more than originally requested?
Question - Do you charge extra for cleaning up divots and other minor damage on tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens?
No, I do not. Cleaning up your course to look its best is all part of the editing process. If there is major damage on the course, I will shoot around it to the extent possible, during the shoot. I'll also do all I can to "fix" any issues in the studio during the editing process.
Question - Have your photographs been published in golf magazines?
Yes, my images are used often in all the major golf publications. Many of my golf club clients submit my work to magazines as part of their marketing efforts. I also work directly with golf publications for features, articles and covers. Sometimes I supply images from my archive at the request of publications and other times, I shoot on assignment.
Question - How can I use my images?
I maintain ownership of my copyrights, but my Image Licensing Agreement is very flexible — there are no time limits or geographical restrictions. You can use your images for all marketing purposes, merchandise, newsletters, magazines, calendars, and more. You may also share them with organizations hosting events at your club so they can promote those events. A NOTE: If you're interested in selling photographic prints to your club members and guests, I have a special program to provide Limited Edition, archival prints on Fine Art Paper, Canvas and Chromaluxe Metal to your members and guests. For more information, Contact Me.
Question - What can’t I do with my images?
You can’t sell or give them to third-party businesses for their own marketing or other business uses unless those uses are directly focused on promoting your club.
Question - How long is my license good for?
Your Image Licensing Agreement is permanent. There are no further licensing fees. Ever.
Question - Are there geographical limitations on my use of your images?
No.
Question - Do you offer discounts for multiple clubs?
Yes. If you represent a golf management company or own multiple clubs, I’m happy to offer preferred pricing.
Question - Do you require a deposit?
No deposit required. I cover all up-front costs. You’ll receive an invoice immediately after the photo shoot to cover the shoot, the images and my travel expenses, with payment due Net 15 (15 days after the shoot). Editing is often completed within that window, but payment is due regardless of editing status.
