The golf course at Pine Island Country Club opened in 1968, originally designed by Mark Mahannah as a classic parkland-style layout with tree-lined fairways and subtle elevation changes. In 2005, architect Mike Gleason completed a comprehensive renovation that modernized bunkering, recontoured greens, and improved drainage while preserving the course’s traditional character. Stretching over 7,000 yards, the par-72 layout offers a balance of playability and challenge, with risk-reward par-5s, demanding par-3s, and strategic doglegs. Mature hardwoods and carefully placed hazards create both beauty and precision, making Pine Island one of Charlotte’s most enjoyable private courses.
