Escondido Golf & Lake Club, Horseshoe Bay, Texas

Set in the Texas Hill Country, Escondido Golf & Lake Club became one of my favorite courses the moment I first stepped onto the property in 2022—and returning for a second shoot in 2025 only deepened that connection.

I grew up in central Texas, so the landscape feels instinctively familiar, from the rolling terrain to the ancient oaks lining Pecan Creek. Designed by Tom Fazio with Beau Welling and Roy Bechtol and opened in 2006, the course flows naturally through the land, blending sculpted bunkers, Bermuda greens, and thoughtful risk-reward holes.

Just as important, Escondido is clearly cherished by its members, and that care shows in every detail.
