The Waterfall Club, Clayton, Georgia

Waterfall Golf Club, perched atop Lookout Mountain near Lake Burton, is a striking mountain course designed by Scott Pool and opened in 1999. The par-71 layout is known for its dramatic elevation changes, bold bunkering, and the unforgettable 15th hole, which plays alongside a sheer cliff with panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In recent years, renovation and refinement work by Bill Bergin has focused on bunker restoration, turf improvements, and enhanced conditioning. Waterfall was one of the first golf courses I ever photographed, as part of a 2006 website project for Scott Pool, and I’ve had the privilege of photographing the club many times since.
