Potomac Shores Golf Club, just south of Washington, D.C., is a striking Jack Nicklaus Signature Design that opened in 2014. Routed through hardwood forests along the Potomac River, the par-72 course stretches over 7,000 yards, with bold bunkering, dramatic elevation changes, and broad, rolling fairways framed by natural wetlands. When I photographed the course in 2015, heavy overnight storms had flooded fairways and washed out bunkers, making for one of the toughest edits I’ve ever faced. Yet the beauty of the property shone through—towering trees, sweeping vistas, and Nicklaus’s inspired design all combining for images that remain some of my favorites from that year.
