Papago Golf Club, set among the sandstone buttes of Papago Park, is one of Phoenix’s most iconic public courses. Originally designed by William Francis “Billy” Bell and opened in 1963, the par-72 layout embraces desert terrain with sweeping views of the Buttes, Camelback Mountain, and the city skyline.

In 2008, renowned architect Billy Fuller led a comprehensive renovation, modernizing greens, bunkers, and infrastructure while honoring Bell’s original vision. Papago gained new vitality in 2018 as home to Arizona State University golf and the addition of the Lou Grubb Clubhouse, cementing its place as a beloved Arizona classic.
