JW Marriott Camelback - Ambiente

The Ambiente Course at JW Marriott Camelback Golf Club reopened in 2013 after a complete redesign by architect Jason Straka. I photographed it just before opening, and then again in 2017. Straka transformed the flat Indian Bend layout into a rolling, strategic par-72 stretching to 7,225 yards, reducing irrigated turf and introducing 100 acres of desert grasses to cut water use. Wide fairways, bold bunkers, and contoured greens emphasize placement over power, while native landscapes frame dramatic light and shadow.
