In 2017, I had the privilege of photographing all four courses of the iconic Hong Kong Golf Club—Old, New, Eden, and Deep Water Bay—capturing the full scope of its historic and scenic breadth. Established in 1889 at Deep Water Bay and expanded at Fanling with courses completed in 1911, 1931, and 1970, the club balances championship golf with tradition. What makes Fanling especially unique is the presence of 68 ancestral graves and over 74 urns scattered throughout the three Fanling courses—resting places that date back to the Ming and Qing dynasties, honoring indigenous villagers whose descendants still live nearby and maintain ancestral ties to this land.
