Calvert Crossing, Calhoun, Louisiana

Calvert Crossing is a lovely public golf course just off I-20, between Ruston and Calhoun, Louisiana—unassuming, but quietly beautiful. Opened in 2004, the course was designed by Michael Hurdzan, whose work emphasizes playability, natural landforms, and subtle strategy rather than forced drama. Hurdzan's layout blends gently rolling terrain, native vegetation, and water features into an approachable yet engaging test for golfers of all skill levels.This gallery came together almost by chance—a last-minute stop added as I drove home from a project in Texas—but it turned into a thoroughly enjoyable shoot. The course’s simplicity, openness, and understated charm made it a pleasure to photograph.
